Big money for iPhone developer start-up

iPhone start up Tapulous says its sales have grown to almost $1,000,000/Month for iPhone application sales.  Apparently a lot of iPhone users are tap tapping away.  Tapulous credits there revenues to application sales, ad revenues, and direct downloads of songs.  Anyone know an iPhone developer?

Wanna know why Apple is designed so well?

Here is a video clip from "Objectified" an industrial design documentary.  In the clip, Jonathan Ive, Apple's chief designer, discusses the thoughts and details that go into making a few Apple products.  You can really tell the passion and thought that is put into every aspect of what they sell.  Even as I type this blog entry on my Mac book Pro, I can feel and see the difference in engineering over my Dell laptop.  If you have never experienced an Apple product, go on down to the Apple store in a mall near you.

Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac's Available October 2nd.

The long awaited release of Blackberry's Desktop Manager for Mac will finally be here this Friday October 2nd. As proven in a recent article in Fortune Magazine, Blackberry is still the leader in corporate devices, even among mac users.  This is especially true in the self employed space where users own Macs but carry a Blackberry for its image of "business swagger."  Thankfully these individual no longer have to wait.  If I am honest, PocketMac wasn't all bad because it certainly let me sync contacts.  However, desktop manager is going to be even better because it should allow for tethering for internet sharing.  Enjoy...

Apple's Time Capsule is not just a hard drive. Its a wireless networking tool that allows you to wireless backup your data, while sharing it over your network, and linking up USB printers.

The best news isn't the 2TB version for $499, its the price drop in the 1TB version to $299.

Here are some of the top features for both:

1.) Automatic backup with Time Machine.
2.) Easy wireless networking.

Tom Tom App and Mount for iPhone.

Here is a video of a fantastic mount for the iPhone, and what from what I can see of the app, it looks pretty good as well. The mount seems to really make the iPhone into a proper gps unit, without having to luge around the second device. I haven't seen the figures on the app or the car unit, but as long as it's not insane, I would say its a good buy.

Mac OS X Snow Leapard: Windows Just Got More Lame

One of the many announcements from WWDC (Apple's developer conference), was the details and release of their latest software upgrades for MAC.

As if Apple software wasn't already good enough, now it will be, "better, faster, easier" and oh yeah take less room then the current version.

Here is a list of some of the improvements from Apple's website:

1.) More responsive finder - 1.7x faster PDF refresh, 1.4x faster JPG refresh.
2.) Quicker time machine backup - 50% faster backup times.
3.) Faster wake, shut down, and join wireless networks - 2x faster wake up, 1.75x faster shut down, 1.55x faster join wireless networks.
4.) Faster upgrade - 45% faster upgrade from Leopard.
5.) Smaller footprint - Frees up 6GB of space on your hard drive over Leopard.
6.) New Quicktime application - Cleaner, less cluttered look and feel.
7.) Chinese character input - Draw them right on the Multi-Touch trackpad in your Mac notebook
7.) New iChat application - 4x the resolution of the previous version.
8.) Faster more powerful Safari - 50% faster java script performance.
9.) More reliable disk eject.
10.) The list go on and on.

Whoa, at this point if you are a MAC user, you should be jumping up and down. If you are reading this on your PC, you might want to wipe the spit of your screen and head on down to the Apple store. The upgrade should be available in the "September" time frame at a cost of $29. Will it be worth it. Absolutely.

Apple Netbook would be killer and right on time

Its just like apple to come right over top of the progress that technologist have made, and come out with something completely show stopping. What with Verizon signing on to subsidize an HP netbook and the popularity of all tiny lap babies growing, it seems fitting for the folks at Apple to bring the pain. Ok, so I am an obvious Apple fan but lets face it, they make a great product. Many people out there say they wont bring a netbook to the market. Instead, they say it will be a tablet (think larger iPod touch.) I say it doesn't matter. Something bigger than an iPod touch but smaller than the mac book air would be a sure hit. The iPod touch is a great device and for the most part it really does have alot of good uses, but small screen size really limits its mass apeal in the laptop market.

Check out a couple examples of what people are thinking it may look like:

As with everything, we will have to wait and see what they actually come up with. But if Apple acts as they normally do, it won't fall short of awesome.

God Bless Apple...No really

I was watching TV last night, as I often do, and was totally amazed by the "PC hunting commercial below.

Did she say that a PC with a "faster" processor was better at video editing than a mac? Someone should tell her a little bit about Unix.

But thankfully Apple responded. Lets see if someone disputes the allegations in the ad below...I think not.

"I got a brick in the box"

Check out this article from Gizmodo...

If you are even a little bit "techie", you can imagine how that guy must have felt. Sitting at his house constantly refreshing the FedEx website. Just waiting for that new Mac Book to arrive. Then in a frenzy of box tape and packing peanuts, he finds....A BRICK!!!

If that's not enough, Best Buy and Apple are squabbling about who's fault it actually was. I want to know how the warehouse clerk managed to sneak the brick in and the Mac Book out. I guess the guys should be happy it was a giant poo or something.

Anyone else have a crazy shipping story like that?

...as always, tell me what you think.
