Weekend Useless Technology: Radtech Procable Shortz

I get it, sometimes you need just a little bit of cable when the standard cable is too long. But are you really going to spend $8 in order to solve that problem for you? The world is full of cable and accessory manufacturers out there and you can't blame them for making this stuff. You also can't really blame the retailers for trying to sell them. I mean, if you gonna buy it, then they may as well sell it. Right? So that pretty much only leaves you and me to blame.

What are you supposed to do then? Well world I have a new and innovative piece of technology for you and it only cost about a penny.

Here it is:

That's right its a zip tie, and for the cost of about one cent you can "convert" your standard iPod/iPhone cable into a lean mean syncing machine.

...as always, tell me what you think.

Hi Timmy,

Appreciate your coverage of the ProCable Shortz, but apparently you're unaware of what RadTech is all about. Approx 90% of what we do is customer driven. On an average day, we receive 30-40 requests for niche products and solutions. We typically reply to each request with a couple of key questions, one being "what would you expect to pay for such a product." We then categorize these requests and work from the top of the list.

That said, this particular cable has already become our 5th highest selling item after just over 4 weeks post launch - a qualified success by any measure.

We learned long ago that trying to guess what people want or need based on our personal tastes or experiences is very hit or miss. By letting people tell us exactly what they want, and how much they're willing to pay, we're able to turn out many more hits. Look for several additional Shortz cable configurations soon - USB, FireWire and others.

Best regards,

John

John,

Thanks so much for checking out the article. I really appreciate the feedback. As with any blog, this is only my opinion and since I have never used any or your products before, I am forming that opinion from a concept. Feel free to send me some product demos, and I'll do a full review of any product you like.

Cheers,
techTIMMY
